Bespoke Insurance Solutions For OBN Members

Does your insurance adviser really ‘get’ what you do?

If you operate in the healthcare, life sciences, medical device, pharma, or technology sectors, the insurance you need is far from standard – it is specialist and requires expert advice.

OBN Supporting the Life Sciences Industry

As a member of OBN, our dedicated team is here to help you.

Focus met with us at our office to review our insurance needs and offered advice as to how we could further protect the business. The quotes were available within 2 days and we progressed to renewal of our existing business cover and took out additional Cyber insurance cover. They also offer pension and private healthcare options

Susan Ingledew, Business Support Manager, OBN (UK) Ltd

From IP to IPO, the combined strength of the experts from FOCUS and Partners& specialist science and tech team can help you protect your business.

We’re able to deliver smart, flexible, high-performance insurance and risk management solutions – with a friendly human approach, tailoring a bespoke package to your needs. We pride ourselves in taking a personal approach to arranging bespoke solutions for businesses in these challenging environments.

We keep abreast of the shifting sands of emerging risk, regulation, legislation and compliance. With this insight, we can advise you on how to keep your business safe as it grows.

With offices across the UK, we are well placed to meet your needs wherever you are located, from spin-outs and start-ups to companies with global operations. We can also create a seamless portfolio spanning your UK, European and US operations.

As a specialist with international capability, we understand the complex risks, tangible and intangible, associated with life sciences, biotechnology, ICT, electronics, cleantech and nanotechnology.

What if…

  • You’re accused of IP infringement – patents, copyrights, trademarks, domain name rights? Or your own IP is infringed? Intellectual property is the holy grail; but what if someone else claimed your idea – in India? Do you have the right IP insurance?
  • Your R&D materials are lost in a power outage? Did you ask about stock deterioration insurance?
  • A data breach lands you in court? More than half of all cyber incidents start with employees, and the average breach costs $4 million. Are your risk management processes and cyber liability insurance fit for purpose?
  • Your clinical trial goes pear-shaped? Nearly 25% of US class actions in 2019 were against Life Science companies*. Where do you start with clinical trials liability? We’ll review your protocol and patient consent forms to secure the right protection to satisfy the ethics committee.
  • Your supply chain is compromised? Business interruption, including supply chain failures, remains the top peril for companies worldwide – and Brexit, Covid and climate-related natural disasters are adding to the risk.
  • You’re planning a funding round or acquisition – or perhaps you’re heading for the exit? Fundraising, M&A, trade sales and IPOs make you vulnerable. You’re sued for contract breach or a client dispute threatens to escalate? Will your brand and relationships suffer a very public spat?
  • What about the people risk in your business? What if something happens to a shareholder – or a key rainmaker falls critically ill – could it impact your income? How do you attract great people in the war for talent? Looking after the wellbeing of your people helps keep them motivated, loyal and productive.

Cyber Risk Management Service

A free assessment of the threat to your business

Cyber crime is the biggest threat to any business.

A recent UK government report – Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2020 – reveals some sobering facts.

46% of businesses have reported having cyber security breaches or attacks in the past 12 months

If you missed our webinar on this topic, you can catch up here. Our panel of experts, who work closely with the life science sector, help to identify and understand exactly what these risks are, where they are coming from and how you can prepare your organisation and wider team to prevent attacks where possible, and limit the impact should one occur.

Cyber risk prevention is key. As an added benefit to OBN members, we are offering a complimentary, no-obligation cyber risk assessment. This report will provide you with an understanding of the threats to your business and identify any action that needs to be taken to stop potential cyber risks from turning into a real attack.
