This year, Bluefin Network set themselves the task of nominating a charity to raise funds for during 2019. Nominations were received from member broker firms, including our nomination for SpecialEffect.
FOCUS is a partner broker with Bluefin Network – a leading insurance broker network providing independent insurance brokers access to a wide range of market leading products, exclusive facilities and services that are proven to improve their profitability and efficiency.
The shortlist was made and then it was down to votes. And we were delighted to receive the news that SpecialEffect was chosen as Bluefin Network’s Charity of the Year 2019!
Duncan Pagan, Managing Director of Bluefin Network said:
We’re proud to support SpecialEffect as the Bluefin Network Charity of the Year and were delighted with the generosity shown by Partner Brokers at our Spring Event last month. The story told by Dr Mick Donegan only served to reinforce the tremendous work they carry out each day to change the lives of people living with physical disabilities for the better. We’re glad that Nick Jones of Focus Oxford Risk Management was able to bring the valuable work of this national charity to our attention and we’re planning future fundraisers to support SpecialEffect later in the year. We look forward to continuing to promote this worthwhile cause.
This is the first year that we have created a charity of the year specific to the network and In terms of the support we can deliver, we will showcase SpecialEffect at our events as well as look to hold additional fundraisers through the year – details of which are TBC at present.
At the recent Bluefin Spring Event, Mick Donegan, CEO of SpecialEffect spoke about the charity, their mission and how they are changing people’s lives all across the country:
SpecialEffect aims to put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games. By using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, we’re finding a way for people to play to the very best of their abilities.
But we’re not just doing it for fun. By levelling the playing field, we’re bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.
We’re delighted to announce that a grand total of £2,721 was raised at the Spring Event – a fantastic effort which the charity is hugely grateful for. However, it doesn’t stop there – there will be further fundraising initiatives throughout the year organised by the Bluefin Network.
And this is in addition to the FOCUS partnership with SpecialEffect – and we are very much looking forward to sponsoring the British 10k event later this month, as well as having staff and family members taking part in the race itself.
FOCUS has chosen to support Special Effect because of all the positive work they do to improve the lives of those less fortunate. Special Effect is a local Oxfordshire charity that reaches a national audience improving lives that would otherwise be massively restricted.
